We’re transfixed by the perfect light falling on the City of Rocks National Reserve in Idaho. If you appreciate silence and solitude, this may be your favorite city of all. It’s an area that calls out to an adventurous spirit with impressive granite formations. Visitors who brave the winter months enjoy activities like cross-country skiing, ice-climbing and snowshoeing.  Although some roads in City of Rocks may be impassable from November through April, with some county roads accessible by snowmobile, so be sure to check conditions. Photo by Timothy Leto II (www.sharetheexperience.org).
