Stand on the rim of Cedar Breaks National Monument in Utah and overlook the amphitheater of rock formations that tell a story of ancient mountains and seas. Witnessing the snow-covered pinnacles and cliffs becomes increasingly difficult as the roads and visitor center close for the winter. But as the snow continues to build, Cedar Breaks Scenic Drive will be transformed into a marked and groomed snowmobile route and the rest of the park will become a winter playground for those on snowshoes and skis. Staring at this landscape, shaped by erosion and weathering, we’re reminded that even the most timeless views are in a constant state of change.  Photo by Ethan Hammer, National Park Service.
